Healing Through Seduction

OHHHHHHH!!! Healing through seductionnnnn, what a freaking title! And no, this isn’t We The Light clickbait; this theme is truly fundamental to what I teach. Prioritizing pleasure, healing, safety, expression, confidence, and living our desires. So often pleasure and play is looked at like fluff. It is something to maybe get at the end of a sacrifice. A reward or a treat at the end of extended pain. We make a vow that if we torture ourselves enough we will celebrate the victory. Here's the rub: you know that we rarely allow ourselves to enjoy and relish in the reward once the milestone happens. Our brain moves us quickly away from celebration and back into production mode of what other milestone, goal and achievement can we collect next. Taking us out of pleasure and into chronic pain and suffering.

Listen, I am not throwing shade at goals and desires. Those are huge components of my work; knowing what my clients want and are working towards is imperative but it’s a balancing act. How can we have one foot in the door of creating a future you’re obsessed with and how can we be seeped into the here and now. How can we play with what’s right in front of us while holding our vision for what we want to create. THIS is healing through play, pleasure and seduction.  Pleasure/Play gets a bad rep. We conceptually understand it and think it's easy, but actually embodying these principles on the reg can be confronting and be a dose of deep shadow work. When we make pleasure and playfulness a fundamental piece of our existence, we end up rubbing up against old belief systems and stories. “Who am I to have an easy go at it? I am not worthy and deserving of what I desire. If I live a pleasure filled life that I love, I will become unrelatable, selfish, lazy, misunderstood, etc etc.” Creating a life you love is nuanced. It is both deeply rewarding while simultaneously trudging up old patterns that you are ready to let go of. And our society taught us that pleasure is just fluff.. HA!

Healing through seduction gives the message to both our brain and body that it's safe to feel good, relax and have enjoyment in our lives. Healing through seduction isn’t about eating grapes and being feathered in a chaise lounge (which god bless, I happily support this message) Healing through seduction is genuinely creating a life that feels supportive, nourishing and exciting. I coach humans to feel confident and to love their life by using this modality as one of the many ways that we get in. I mix talk therapy, with somatic body work, and PLEASURE. It's 2022: pleasure is no longer the treat at the end of the war, it's a principle of living. We always preach we want to #liveourbestlives, so let's start with a basic 101 tip that we can start practicing today:

Throughout the day, I encourage you to set an alarm on your phone. You can label it PLEASURE. As this alarm pops up periodically throughout your day, I want you to ask yourself when the bells chim “Am I feeling crunchy and contracted or am I feeling pretty aligned/happy/turned on?” If you are feeling crunchy, no fear! Ask yourself “How can I make this mundane task/activity more pleasurable and joyful?” How can you up your pleasure game just a half step?
